Meet Jesi Osman

A Bite of Magic, Blog

I interviewed the main character of The Witch’s Complement, Jesi Osman. If you have more questions for her, please let me know in the comments.

Me: So Jesi, we’re here for everyone to get to know a little more about you. Are you ready?

Jesi: Yes, I am ready.

Me: Tell us a little about yourself.

Jesi: My name is Jessica Osman, but everyone calls me Jesi. I grew up outside of Savannah in a town called Rincon with my mom and dad. I’m an only child, but I have a ton of cousins.

Me: Who do you look the most like, your mother or father?

Jesi: My dad for sure. I have his hair, facial structure, and skin color. Though my eyes don’t match either. I have dark blue, where my mom’s are green and my dad’s are brown.

Me: Where do you work?

Jesi: I currently work at Herbs and Healing in Savannah. Before that, I worked at a corporate law firm in Savannah. I was, well, I am a lawyer.

Me: Why aren’t you at the law firm anymore?

Jesi: My Gigi died and my cousin, Maggie, needed help with the store after she inherited it.

Me: Remember, we are all part of the magical community. Nothing you say here will leak outside of the supernatural world.

Jesi: When Gigi died, her witch power transferred to me. See, I never developed an innate magical power when I was younger. But now I have the ability to glean, so I can see the past of anyone I touch. It is overwhelming and working in a law firm you shake a lot of hands. I found out more about my clients and co-workers that I ever wanted. They aren’t good people.

Me: So you work with Maggie.

Jesi: Yes. She is also helping me learn to control my power and teach me all the magic lessons I skipped as a child.

Me: Magic lessons?

Jesi: The coven host magic lessons for the kids.

Me: Do you have any tattoos?

Jesi: No

Me: Piercings? Scars?

Jesi: My ears are pierced, but no scars.

Me: What is your favorite alcoholic beverage?

Jesi: Red wine. A nice Cabernet Sauvignon.

Me: What is your greatest wish?

Jesi: For life to go back to normal. I never wanted an innate witch ability or to be a natural witch. I love being a lawyer. I also love being right, so that might have something to do with it. So, yeah. I’d like to leave the magic life behind.

Me: If you had a free day with no responsibilities and your only mission was to enjoy yourself, what would you do?

Jesi: That’s a good question. I would head to the beach, lie under an enormous umbrella, and drink margaritas. Or take a bubble bath, read a book, and drink wine.

Me: Tell me about Chuck.

Jesi: He is tall, stubborn, nosey, handsome, patient, and one of the best people I know.

Me: Is that all?

Jesi: No, but it’s enough for now.
