On Wednesday I’m off to Book Lovers Con.
I’m going as a reader, but I’m bringing business cards! Squee! I’m excited and nervous. I went to RT con two years ago and it was great. I wasn’t writing much at that time and didn’t really think about networking. And now I’ve convinced myself to take that small step. Business cards. I’m going to network it up. It cost $35 for 250 cards from a local company. $35 to hand out cards that might get me laughed at. But maybe $35 toward someone reading this tiny blog of a page and offering constructive criticism.
And I made a costume for one of the parties. This convention is having two costume parties. A Faery and Fantasy party and a Voodoo Vampire party. Normally I’m all about Halloween and all things spooky, but I actually put together a fairy costume. I hand made a skirt. I dusted off my sewing machine and faked together a skirt. It was touch and go for a moment while making the skirt. You can find the design I used here. And I made wings. I have no real idea how I pulled off the wings. I was tired from the skirt and just kinda cobbled it together. Look! Aren’t they pretty. Yes. I bought everything else.
And if I get the inclination I might dress up as an 80’s vampire. You know, tights with cut off jean shorts and a punk t-shirt. I might draw the line at teasing my hair. We’ll see.
So I’m going to this convention as a reader (secret blogger/writer) and will post updates. Or maybe I should just live tweet. Do people still live tweet? How about live blogging? Live YouTube tweet blogging. This is starting to sound dangerous. 😁
So stay turned for Lucy’s Misadventures at Book Lovers Con with my mom, sister, and sister’s sister-in-law. BOOK NERDS UNITE!
