<\/p>\nI am into my 7th month of writing the same piece. I hit 30,000 words earlier this week. It may not sound like much to some, but it feels like a big accomplishment. I have stayed focused on the same story for six full months.\u00a0 While I haven’t written everyday of those six months, the story has stayed at the back of my mind as I go about my day.<\/p>\n
I had this grand idea that I would have the first draft finished in four months. Four months – HA! I was a little over confident. It might take me another six months. It might take me two months. I think the writing would be faster without a cat walking on my keyboard and my arms periodically. She’s cute. She’s annoying. Perfect cat.<\/p>\n
Also, life gets in the way. Big in the way.<\/p>\n

I didn’t meet my initial goal for the first draft. I am not deterred. I have enough planned out to finish a solid first draft. And I have plenty of new ideas to use to flesh out the story as it is laid out. It really feels good to not let a story die within the first 5,000 words. It feels good to not get distracted by a different story as well. Don’t get me wrong. The different story ideas are floating around and are so very tempting. So very tempting.<\/p>\n
I will keep keeping on. And in the end I want to be proud of myself. I want to show off my creation even if it’s just to my sister. I want to be more than I’ve allowed myself to be over the past few years. This is for me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
